
On Friday, May 2, 2025 The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 Bay Roberts, presented a cheque in the amount of $500.00 to the Emergency Disaster Services for the Salvation Army Newfoundland and Labrador Division. All money donated was graciously given through the Coffee and a Chat function held at Branch 32 each Friday. Here Comrade Harold Brown (Br 32 President) presents the cheque to Mr. Michael Barry, Director of the Emergency Disaster Services for the province.

Branch President Allan Wilton of Branch 45, Woody Point presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal to Comrade Aiden Crewe at a recent AGM.

On February 21st, 2025, Comrade Cake and Comrade Robert Murphy, members of Branch 13 Corner Brook, were honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

Comrade Tom Lawlor a member of Bay Roberts, Branch 32 was presented recently with the Canadian Coast Guard Exemplary Service Medal (50 years) by the Lieutenant Governor, The Honourable Joan Marie J. Aylward, O.N.L, E.C.N.L., B.N., R.N., ICD.D. Tom joined the Federal Department of Fisheries as it was called then in January of 1974 as a seaman. He was on the patrol vessel FPV Cape Freels, while patrolling in the north Atlantic on March 12th 1976 when a fire broke out in the engine room. The crew had to take to the lifeboats and leave the ship and were picked up by the CCGS Hudson, after spending 15 hours in the frigid waters in an open lifeboat. Tom sustained fractured ribs and a broken elbow. He became part of the Canadian Coast Guard when the Coast Guard merged with the Department of Fisheries in 1995 and was involved in numerous search and rescues and search and recoveries. He was on the search for the Ocean Ranger and served on several armed boarding’s where foreign vessels were seized and brought to Canadian ports . Tom sailed on just about every Coast Guard ship in Eastern Canada as senior or Chief engineer and retired in 2010 as Chief Engineer on research vessel CCGS Wilfred Templeman. He is still serving the Canadian Coast Guard in a casual position as senior or chief engineer.
Branch 32 President, Comrade Harold Brown was presented with the King Charles III Coronation Medal on 19 Feb 2025 at Kelligrews Legion Branch 50 by the Honourable Ken McDonald, MP for the District of Avalon.

On Friday, 28 February 2025, The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 32 Bay Roberts, presented a cheque in the amount of $1,000.00 to O’Shaughnessy House in Carbonear. (L – R) Branch President – Comrade Harold Brown and Grandson Beau presenting the cheque to Chantelle Joyce representing O’Shaughnessy House. The donation came from the proceeds of the Friday Morning “Coffee and a Chat” held at the branch.
